Luke Wright starred again with the bat, scoring 76 off just 43 balls to power England to a 6 wicket win against New Zealand. Batting first, New Zealand suffered a top order collapse but managed to post 148/6 thanks to James Franklin’s 50 off 33. Steven Finn bowled well for England, finishing with 3/16. Apart from Wright, who steered the chase, England received good contributions from Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales as they managed to win by 6 wickets with 7 deliveries to spare.
West Indies after choosing to bat Posted 179 for the loss of 5 wickets riding on half centuries by both their openers Chris Gayle 58(35) and J Charles 84(56). Chris Gayle started aggressively scoring boundaries and sixes regularly but fell soon after he scored 50 trying for another lofted shot. J Charles batted wonderfully after that to score 84 and push West Indies to a score of 179/5. In reply, England has disastrous start losing 2 wickets in first over without any runs on the board. Bairstow and Hales rebuild the innings and Morgan gave a strong finish but England fell short of the total by 15 runs.
